He has been Professor for Civil Law and Labour Law at the University of Passau/Germany; a William Evans Visiting Fellow and a Marie Curie-Fellow at the University of Otago/New Zealand, and an associate with an international law firm/Vienna.

Prof Risak is the  editor of the Austrian Journal of Labour Law and Social Law as well the author of 14 books and more than 60 articles.
