STEP

STEP is a trainee exchange programme that enables law students and young lawyers to gain first hand experience of the substantive and procedural law as well as to get to know the culture of another country. The traineeships last between 2 weeks and 18 months and can take place in any law related area: law firms, courts, public institutions, banks, in-house legal departments, consulting firms and international organisations.

Referring to a decision of the International Council Meeting (ICM) each STEP-Applicant has to be an ELSA-Member.

All available traineeships can be found on our website.
You will just have to fill in the Student Application Form (SAP) and hand it in to your local STEPer

in due time. You can find the SAP on our website.

By filling in the application, you confirm to having filled-in it trustworthy. The local STEP officer can ask you for certain ceritificates or attestations to check the accuracy of your statements within the SAF.

You have the possibility to apply for up to three traineeship at once.
This is followed up by the so-called "matching-process". At this stage of process your application will be compared with all the others handed in by other students.

If the employer invites you to be his trainee, a local STEPer will inform you about it. Up from that point the local group offering the traineeship will be responsible for you. Their STEPer will help you to find an accomodation and will warmly welcome you.
